HOW YOU CAN HELP

In a past ‘Biker’s Dream’ Raffle, Robbie purchased one raffle ticket for a Harley-Davidson, hoping to upgrade his set of wheels for $5.00. Robbie is an excellent example of someone who is a wise investor for, not only did he win a new, blue 2001 Harley 883 Sportster purchased from Harley/Davidson/Buell of Reading, he helped Homefields help others. Thank you Robbie.

The tradition of golfing to support Homefields began in 1997 as the brainchild of Allison G. Hawthorne, a founding member of Homefields board of directors and past president. Allison gained the backing of her employer and Homefields' residential service provider, Community Services Group, a gold sponsor of 8 tournaments. Today, CSG spearheads Homefields tournament planning while a fellowship of businesses pulls together to make this event a success for everyone.

It was not a hole-in-one! Given the growing success of our annual golf tournament, we thought to raffle a set of PING golf clubs with rounds of golf at two local golf courses would be up to par. Unfortunately, we had to discontinue our ‘Golfer's Dream’ raffle because of a lack of interest. Any ideas on fundraising to replace this raffle would be greatly appreciated. Please email info@homefields.org with fundraising suggestions.

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Pennsylvania collaborated with Homefields in 1997 to explore the viability of a program that incorporates horticulture and providing employment and training opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities or other special needs. With the help of many specialists from many fields, a plan came together that included developing a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, converting an eight acre horse farm into a diversified produce farm, and integrating trainee horticulturists as the primary force behind the production.
Goodwill at Homefields CSA supplied over 150 shares in 2004 and is leasing 5 additional acres to accommodate our growth. Also, we continue to progress in training adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs. We´ve placed our first trainee horticulturist in competitive employment at a local greenhouse, nursery and landscaping company. The program infrastructure has been developed considerably by Homefields to allow for growth in our training and production.

Your donations have helped us to achieve our missions of providing both secure homes and supported employment in a successful agricultural program. The six residents of Homefields and the twenty five farmers thank you for all you have done. Your support has brought very real changes to many lives.
Our new goal is to provide more homes for adults with mental retardation, a short term goal being to purchase a third house. These homes will be available to meet the needs of Lancaster County residents long into the future.
Rest assured that now and in the future the Board of Homefields will watch every dollar entrusted to us and never take your support for granted. We are all volunteers, with no paid staff. All of your donation(s) benefit(s) adults with special needs.
Homefields is incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Donations from within the USA are tax deductible.
