Picnic at the Farm logo: Green type on a yellow plate, on a red and white checkerboard tablecloth

For the first time in 10 years, inclement weather required us to pivot to a drive-thru operation, but as you can see below, the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the chefs, volunteers, staff—and especially the diners—who made the 2023 Picnic at the Farm a vibrant and memorable experience for all.

Many thanks to those who gave this year, toward the maintenance of our homes, property, and care farm, providing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Miller’s Smorgasbord crafted our menu with vegetarian and vegan options:

Smoked Brisket • Baked 8-piece Chicken • Two barbecue sauces from Smokehouse BBQ and Grill • Vegan Baked Beans • Grilled Vegetables • Potato Rolls • Corn Muffins • Fruit Salad • Pineapple Upside Down Cake

A Taste of Homefields

Guest chefs prepared small bites using organic ingredients from Homefields Care Farm. Koshary Station (moussaka), Chef Matt Scazlo from Cracked Pepper Catering (Moroccan chickpea salad & turnip cake with miso peanut sauce), Jon & Maria from Jon & Maria’s llc (Tuscan acorn squash), and Erica Joy of Erica Joy Bakes Gluten Free Creations (strawberry jam bars and mini paw paw muffins) took part this year.

Education students from the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center provided child-friendly activities, including a seed-planting project and a make-your-own flower craft kit.
