GrownBy FAQs

The app will let you purchase items from Homefields directly from your phone, customize your weekly shares to get the vegetables you want, and update your vegetable preferences. 

The season starts the last week of May, and each week of our CSA season, you can customize your share. Each week, from Monday at 12 pm to Wednesday at 1 pm, you can log in to Grownby and select the items you’d like. Make sure to customize early for the widest variety, but don't worry if you forget. The farmers will assemble your share, and you are welcome to swap items in consultation with our farm team at pickup.

General FAQs

We are grateful for your support of Homefields Care Farm. Your sustaining CSA membership allows us to deliver organic, health-giving produce and helps you build a personal connection with the Homefields farm team. If you are unable to pick up, you are welcome to Designate (make arrangements for someone else to pick up your share) or Donate (we donate to local food banks). This model supports the program's sustainability and minimizes food waste, but does not allow refunds. To make arrangements, please email community@homefields.org

Do I have to pay for the whole season up front?
You do not! There is a pay-in-full option and a monthly pay-as-you-go option. To sign up, please visit our storefront.

Can I make adjustments when I arrive, rolling unwanted items into next week’s visit? With our new software, you can customize your weekly share by selecting the items and quantities you prefer. If you don’t customize your share, one will be created automatically. If you receive an item you don’t want, please ask the staff at pickup if there’s a substitute. Where possible, we will strive to provide the items you prefer.

How about herbs and flowers?
A wide array of herbs, flowers, and some vegetables will be available to you in the pick-your-own field, based on similar local CSAs. These carry a value of nearly $500 and are included as part of your share.

PYO FAQs

Do I have to pick my own?
Virtually all of your share will be harvested, washed, and separated in a central pickup location. But we’re confident you'll want to head into the PYO area to grab some extra items. NOTE: If you have physical limitations, we offer a “pick assist” service to help you participate in the bounty. Let us know!

Is there a work requirement to join?
No, though, we love and need volunteers for daily farm tasks and special events.

Can my dog accompany me in the fields?
Sorry, due to food safety concerns, only service animals in active duty are permitted at Homefields Care Farm.

What is a CSA?

A Community Supported Agriculture program creates a direct, personal relationship between families and farmers. You purchase a share of the season’s harvest, and then each week throughout the growing season, you receive the highest-quality, locally grown food, including your favorite staples and unusual specialty items. The farmer can plan a better season in advance and meet shareholders face-to-face.

What is a Care Farm?

“A care farm utilises the whole or part of a farm to provide health, social or educational care services for one or a range of vulnerable groups of people, providing a supervised, structured program of farming-related activities, rather than occasional one-off visits.”
