Farm Share Journal Demonstration with Carol Welsh

Master naturalist and watercolor artist Carol Welsh will visit the farm to demonstrate her nature journalling technique using vegetables and herbs from Homefields. All ages are welcome to join her and make a nature journal page of their own. All supplies will be provided. Drop in between 2:30 and 6:30 or stay the whole four hours!

This experience is open to the public, though a $5 donation would be appreciated. Registration is suggested so we can ensure enough supplies are on hand. Register at events@homefields.org

If you prefer, please feel free to bring your own paints, charcoal, pencil or other medium, journal or drawing paper. This event will be held rain or shine. In the event of significant rain, subject matter will be brought into the barn for painting and drawing.

Experience the farm in a new way with nature journalist Carol Welsh as your guide. Carol is a knowledgeable naturalist and accomplished artist; she will select vegetables, herbs and flowers in season at the farm for rendering and will offer recipes and fascinating information about each selection for inclusion in your journals. 

This class is open to the public and open to all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult.  Watercolors, brushes and paper will be provided; if you prefer, please feel free to bring your own paints, charcoal, pencil or other medium, journal or drawing paper.  This event will be held rain or shine.  In the event of significant rain, subject matter will be brought into the barn for painting and drawing.

Adults: $20.00 / Children & Youth: $5.00

This offering is part of our Talks in the Fields series, sharing the land with the community by offering educational opportunity's by donation or at reasonable fees.  All proceeds benefit Homefields.  Space is limited, please register at events@homefields.org in advance to reserve your space. Payment due on the day of your class, payment accepted via credit card, cash or check.

Tai Chi and Yoga

Tai Chi and Yoga with Amy Finnegan and Maggie Mowery

Find fluidity, mobility and movement in the moonlight. Amy's peaceful Tai Chi will move the qi through your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Maggie's gentle, flowing yoga will move you through a few standing poses and then harness the lunar energy with seated and reclining poses to restore you. This will be an hour of gentle, flowing movement accessible for all levels, and beginners are welcome.

Suggested $5 donation, all proceeds go to Homefields
Class will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather

About Amy Finnegan

Amy has spent 19 years as a physical therapist assistant, working with young adults through seasoned citizens. Amy teaches Tai Chi and Silver & Fit classes at Drevna Physical Therapy/Fortius, located in Lancaster, PA (near the Taj Mahal Restaurant.) She is passionate about helping people to gain strength in their body so they are empowered to do the things they love. Through Tai Chi, she helps her students to release the busyness of the world, to move into a slow, intentional space and to connect with their own body, mind and spirit. 

About Maggie Mowery, Certified Alignment Yoga Teacher, Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher

Maggie has been teaching yoga since 2017, and has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Maggie teaches Wall Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Alignment Yoga at West End Yoga Studio in Lancaster, PA, Elevate Fitness in Akron, PA and at the YMCA in downtown Lancaster, PA. Maggie is a certified Alignment Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Sanctuary School in association with West End Yoga. “Alignment Yoga has literally changed my life. I now have a much deeper understanding of how the human body works and of how I can align my own values with the life that I wish to lead." When she is not on her yoga mat, Maggie loves to paint, sculpt in clay, draw, sew, hike, kayak, camp and spend as much time as possible with her loved ones.

Matt Dilley demonstrated backpacking skills and set-up the campsite he uses when backpacking on the Appalachian Trail and out west in Yellowstone National Park.  Bonus info included knot-making, cooking on the trail, and how to sleep in a hammock.

Mindfulness Yoga Series

Join us for a yoga for self-care class. We'll slow down and reflect on ways we can care for ourselves in this busy world. Perfect for beginners, this class will include gentle movement, breath work and mindfulness practices.  Please bring a yoga mat and blanket/towel.

Kim Stoltzfus is a Mindfulness Educator with Wellness Works in Schools, as well as a registered yoga teacher and Y12SR (Yoga and the 12 Steps of Recovery) facilitator. Kim enjoys sharing the tools that have helped her to find more peace and grounding in this sometimes crazy life!

Cost: $10 drop-in rate
Checks can be make payable to Kim Stoltzfus.
