Picnic at the Farm is an outdoor celebration of food and community, with live music, games, activities, and a menu that spotlights the bounty of Homefields Care Farm. Proceeds go to the maintenance of our homes, property, and care farm, providing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Family-friendly: Education students from the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center will provide age-appropriate experiences for children, including story-telling, planting, gross motor activities, and scavenger hunts around the farm.
Self-guided tour: explore the greenhouses, apiaries, insect hotel, and back fields. Stay in the mix or find a quiet corner.
Lawn games: Giant jenga, corn hole, and more.

A Taste of Homefields

Guest chefs will prepare small bites using organic ingredients from Homefields Care Farm. Koshary Station, Chef Matt from Cracked Pepper Catering, Jon & Maria from Jon & Maria’s llc, and Erica Joy of Erica Joy Bakes Gluten Free Creations, and lavender mint spritzer by Dominique Didier.

Music

The Over Easy trio will provide live music to create an atmosphere.

That’s Ted, Jason, and Victor from the stone and ranch house, enjoying the day with staff. The picnic is in their backyard every year—how lucky is that?

These three masterminded our “Taste of Homefields” last time around. Brooke Magni of Partake–Lancaster, Erica Joy of Erica Joy Bakes, and Chef Oliver of homage: Cuisines of the West African Diaspora created unique dishes using produce, fruit, and herbs from Homefields Care Farm.

The Picnic is an opportunity for friends to get together in the outdoors, with live music, in a festive atmosphere.

This team staffed the Picnic, making it one of our smoothest and most special yet! You’re looking at friends of Homefields, including Millersville Students and volunteers from Lancaster County Career and Technology Center.

Every half hour, volunteers from the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center provided storytime sessions near the blueberry bushes.

Chef Oliver from homage: Cuisines of the West African Diaspora was in-person to serve up a West African stew incorporating vegetables and herbs from Homefields Care Farm and partner farms.

Erica Joy from Erica Joy Bakes Gluten Free Creations offered “A Taste of Homefields” incorporating Asian pears from trees located feet away.

There were plenty of opportunities for families and friends to gather in company.

The Over Easy trio created a soundtrack that was popular with even our youngest partygoers.

Christiane David from Christiane David Gallery, Lancaster, shared a memory with a guest holding what else but… a picnic basket!

Ruby Munson and Arianna Henderson from So Good Lancaster took a break on our 1939 Ford before rejoining the festivities.

Volunteers from Millersville University Honors College and friends of Homefields surround Allison Hawthorne (riding the tractor). Allison spearheads the event and this crew put the final touches onto the property the day before.
